  22. Thanks for your MacApp.Tech$ cost comparison between the old and the new ALink
  23. cost structure. As a primarily Non-Prime Time user, this is bad news.

  25. I am afraid these additional cost will eventually force me to be much more
  26. prudent about downloading MacApp.Tech$ discussions and hence uploading my
  27. comments to these discussions. I will probably download the weekly compressed
  28. archives but the weekly frequency of the archives eliminates any real
  29. participation in discussions. If alot of MacApp.Tech$ contributors also start
  30. downloading the weekly archives instead of directly from their in-boxes, there
  31. will most likely be a sharp decrease in the breadth and quality of the
  32. MacApp.Tech$ discussions. All of this seems contrary to the purpose and
  33. benefits of MacApp.Tech$. (now we really know why the “$” in MacApp.Tech$)

  35. I want to thank Keith Rollins for speaking out from Apple’s side about value of
  36. MacApp.Tech$ discussions. He and others from Apple including Steve Friedrich,
  37. Dave Wilson (sort of from Apple), Lonnie Millett, Larry Rosenstein, Chris
  38. Knepper to name a few have been fantastic in contributing to discussions and
  39. answering questions.

  41. The two way open conversation that MacApp.Tech$ provides should be encouraged
  42. rather than discouraged. Especially as we move toward System 7 and MacApp 2.1
  43. which Jesse Feiler’s memo pointed out! Both Apple and of course MacApp users
  44. like me benefit greatly from the timely open exchange of ideas, opinions,
  45. questions and answers. I truly hope there can be some kind of solution that
  46. AppleLink Management can agree with to keep this channel from being even more
  47. expensive and therefore less used.
